Abstract
Provides recommendations and guidance in relation to fire safety of atria in healthcare buildings. Covers fire safety implications of such buildings, technical recommendations for fire protection, alarm and control, and organisational and management policies.

Supersedes Space for Health: Healthcare Environment 'Firecode: Operational provisions manuals. Part M: Fire safety in atria', which replaced HTM 05-03 Part M Firecode - fire safety in the NHS. Operational provisions - Part M: guidance on the fire safety of atria in healthcare buildings (2010). HTM 05-03 consists of ten parts: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, J, K and M. To be read in conjunction with HTM 05-01 and HTM 05-02 which are also part of the Firecode suite. Department of Health is now known as the Department of Health and Social Care.

Its work included setting national standards, shaping the direction of health and social care services and promoting healthier living. Publications included Space for Health: Technical Manuals, as well as the Health Building Notes, Health Technical Memorandums, and White Papers. They were renamed to the Department of Health and Social Care. However responsibility for technical guidance was then transferred to NHS Improvement in February 2017 which is now part of NHS England and NHS Improvement.
