Abstract
Sets out our current position relating to flood and coastal risk management in the UK and the challenges we face in the future, particularly in the context of climate change.

Superseded by Flood and coastal erosion risk management (CIWEM, 2014). Supersedes PPS Flood and coastal defence (CIWEM, 1998). The statement was written in 2008 and has not been modified since. Whilst the principles remain current, the names of bodies, appropriate guidance and legislation referred to may have changed.
