Abstract
Aimed at those who have responsibility, either directly or indirectly, for work equipment. The Approved Code of Practice covers the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998. There is guidance on the duties in LOLER and existing regulations, which apply to the use of lifting equipment in all sectors of industry and in all work activities. LOLER builds on the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER). This publication supplies an interpretation of the Regulations, advice on how to assess whether lifting equipment is suitable for its purpose and guidance on examining and inspecting lifting equipment before it is put into service.
