Guide to surge protection devices (SPDs): selection, application and theory

Abstract

Provides an overview of the types of devices available and the wiring regulations requirements, the common terms and definitions in use. Explains what transient overvoltages (surges) are and looks at the damage that can be caused from various sources. Reviews the BS EN 62305 standard series and looks at important design considerations for selecting SPDs, protection of SPDs, installation, inspection, testing and maintenance.
