Abstract
Reports on a survey looking at how English local authorities deal with lighting in their areas; both as part of the local planning process and the management of street lighting. Presents a detailed picture of lighting issues in England, with the aid of a number of local case studies. Also makes nine recommendations to help local authorities reduce light pollution and protect existing dark areas while saving energy.
