Abstract
An overview of the most common approaches to timber framing, then looks at how these methods are evolving to improve the performance of low energy housing. Also includes case studies demonstrating dwellings constructed using the Dowellam/Brettstapel method, another using the stick method with internal and external OSB, and an additional layer of insulation between horizontal battens internally, and a house built using a form of twin wall timber construction with an interstitial board for shear strength and outer board for weatherproofing.
