Abstract
Part of a series considering how planning can help to 'future-proof' society, to enable populations around the world adapt and cope with major challenges ahead in the twenty first century. This paper considers the impact of governance and decision-making in meeting those challenges. Argues for better, more co-ordinated and coherent decisions for places, providing suggestions for overcoming the current fragmentation of decision-making at governmental level which is causing difficulty in tackling those challenges.
