Explores the complex role of the lead designer at the different stages of the 2013 Plan of Work. Focuses in particular on the introduction of Stages 0 and 7 which require information to be produced for operational/asset management purposes where once was just for construction, and the three core design stages which can present many challenges.

Although there is now a RIBA Plan of Work 2020, this document can be used as the stage structure in the RIBA Plan of Work 2020 is unchanged and this guidance covers specific detail on themes or strategies in a project.
