Abstract
The aim of this qualitative study was to investigate the reasons why operators of forward tipping dumper machinery decided not to wear seat belts during its operation. It also looked to identify possible design control measures to encourage wearing of seat belts, and seek opinions from manufacturers of forward tipping dumper machinery and also seat, seat belt and immobiliser manufacturers concerning the design specification of these items.
