Comprises one of a series of guides setting out the scope of opportunities for building high quality places particularly using garden city principles, highlighting key points for consideration in planning for growth and signposting to further detailed information. Specifically focuses on planning for culture and the arts, looking closely at the policy context and principles for success. Also includes case studies centred on multi-functional buildings for culture and the arts - the Idea Store; developing a strong arts and cultural strategy in new communities in North West Bicester; funding models for culture and the arts - Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation; community-building in action - Incredible Edible; bringing life to new places using cultural heritage - the Old Vinyl Factory; and collaborative arts and culture at Milton Keynes.
