Abstract
Questions the impact that fairly improbable processes and events i.e. 'disruptors' of a social, health, technological, environmental and political nature, could have on trends in urban development over the next 50 years. Examples of such disruptors include: global or national disease pandemic, radical life-extension technology becoming available, rapid adoption of autonomous electric vehicles, 3-D printing, asteroid hitting earth or eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano, UK becoming a federal state, and/or division of the world into 'fortress blocs' e.g. new 'iron curtain'.
