Comprises a practice note on planning enforcement in Northern Ireland, specifically looking at the approaches councils can take to detect an actual breach of planning control. Looks at: legislative context; typical stages in the investigative process; types of complaints; office based investigation; site inspections; rights of entry - supplementary provisions; site safety; interviews; report and assessment; additional investigative powers; providing an information notice; planning contravention notice; and time limits.
