Abstract
Describes the general requirements for sports lighting, including illuminance, light distribution, glare, emergency lighting, planning requirements and safety. Provides specific recommendations for fifty-two separate sports. Considers the requirements of multipurpose sports halls, stadia of varying size and indoor arenas. Outline guidance is given on lighting for television. Also covers light sources, maintenance and luminaire selection, calculation methods, aiming of floodlights, relevant sports governing bodies and typical play area dimensions.
