Abstract
Looks at installation and use of window restrictors for safety purposes in new windows in dwellings in Scotland. Covers current building regulations requirements within the UK, 2 types of safety restrictors, existing guidance provided by BS 8213 which is still deemed fit for purpose by industry, tests described in British and European standards and whether they can be easily implemented in the UK, guidance offered by manufacturers and highlights various issues for concern.
