Abstract
While glass wool blanket insulation (made from recycled bottles) remains the most common type of insulation from the wool category used in homes, an up and coming contender is sheep’s wool. Sheep’s wool provides a natural alternative to synthetic insulation, serves as a highly efficient insulator, and can last over 50 years. Already a natural fire retardant, sheep’s wool insulation typically comes treated with borax, which increases fire resistance and provides protection against insects.
