Abstract
Designed to improve the quality and accuracy of energy performance certificates (EPC) and presents the SAP conventions used, covering: general, dimensions, openings, ventilation, U-values and thermal bridging, space heating, DHW heating, renewables, summer overheating and miscellaneous. Appendices relate to: documentary evidence, thermal bridging, u-values for room in roof, dwelling dimensions, and thermal mass.

SAP 2012 is used for building regulation compliance in new dwellings in England (Part L) from 6 April 2014, in Wales (Part L) from 31 July 2014 and in Scotland (Section 6) from 1 October 2015.
