Abstract
Provides guidance to public authorities on the discharge of their duties under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Covers: right of access, advice and assistance, consultation with third parties, time limits for responding to requests, internal reviews, cost limit, vexatious requests, publication schemes, transparency and confidentiality obligations in contracts and outsources services, communicating with a requester and datasets.

Supersedes Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs' code of practice on the discharge of public authorities functions under part 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, issued under section 45 of the Act (TSO, 2004).
