Abstract
Expands on initial discussions provided in CS 109 Developments in durability design and performance-based specification of concrete (CS, 1996) relating to reinforcement corrosion as a factor of deterioration in structural concrete. This discussion document considers the various concepts of durability design and different types of deterioration, analytical evaluation with modelling and durability indicators from performance testing. Provides guidance on performance based specification, monitoring and updating.
