Welsh national marine plan

Abstract

Comprises the Welsh National Marine Plan (WNMP), which sets out an integrated, evidenced and plan-led approach to sustainable marine development in Wales. It has been prepared and adopted under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 and in conformity with the UK Marine Policy Statement. Details how the plan fits within policies including planning policy; achieving a sustainable marine economy; ensuring a strong, healthy and just society; living within environmental limits; promoting good governance; and using sound science responsibly. Also details how the plan applies to various sectors of the economy including aggregates, aquaculture, defence, dredging and disposal, low carbon, oil and gas, fisheries, ports and shipping, subsea cabling, surface water and wastewater treatment/disposal, tourism and recreation.
