Abstract
Presents the design criteria and considerations for portal and cantilever sign and/or signal gantries for use over highways. Covers gantry type selection, risk assessment, design principles, appearance, limit state design, actions, performance for passively safe gantries, gantries with permanent maintenance access, dynamically sensitive gantry, equipment and cabling.
