BS EN 60079-1:2014 Explosive atmospheres. Equipment protection by flameproof enclosures "d" (Incorporating corrigenda September 2018 and June 2020) (Superseded but remains current)

Publication Year

2014

Document Status

Replaced, remains current

Abstract

Gives construction requirements and details of tests for electrical equipment intended for use in explosive gas atmospheres, with type of protection flameproof enclosure "d".

Document History

Superseded by BS EN 60079-1:2014+A11:2024. Supersedes BS EN 60079-1:2007. Identical to IEC 60079-1:2014, incorporating corrigenda September 2018 and June 2020. See National foreword for information that the UK voted against approval of this document as a European Standard as the pass criteria for the test relating to cemented joints in subclause 6.1.2 is considered to be not as robust when compared with the previously published edition. Other National Standard Bodies have also recorded a negative vote on the document citing the identical concern in the difference between the 2007 and 2014 editions. Many manufacturers had no difficulty in complying with the previous requirement when choosing appropriate cements and the UK committee did not see any justification for revising the requirement. Amendment dated 30 September 2018 - Implementation of IEC corrigendum June 2018: Clause C.2.3.3 amended. Amendment dated 30 June 2020 - Implementation of IEC interpretation sheet 1: June 2020
