Abstract

This series of updates covers the significant changes introduced in EN 1993‐1‐1, EN 1993‐1‐8 and EN 1994‐1‐1. This publication discusses the determination of flexural buckling resistance in structural members, focusing on the use of non-dimensional slenderness and an imperfection factor, α, which is influenced by the chosen buckling curve (a0, a, b, c, or d). The buckling curve is selected based on the member type, buckling axis, and steel grade, with each curve providing different levels of design resistance, from highest (a0) to lowest (d).
