Abstract
Discusses the possibilities of using fire alarm system infrastructure for invacuations and lockdown situations, where buildings are used as places of safety during external hazardous situations: environmental/pollution incidents, dangerous animals near schools, or terrorism incidents. Considers various regulations, legislation and guidance, procedures, and looks at recent changes to BS 5839-1:2025.
