Abstract

Provides principles and application rules for the seismic design of the structural aspects of facilities composed of above-ground and buried pipeline systems and of storage tanks of different types and uses, as well as for independent items e.g. towers masts and chimneys, or silos, and other ancillary elements attached to these structures or in industrial facilities.

Document History

This document is considered to be a second generation Eurocode and can be used to prepare for the transition from first to second generation of Eurocodes. The first generation Eurocode should be used as the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes BS EN 1998-4:2006 and BS EN 1998-6:2005. The National Annex contains national choices for buildings and civil engineering works constructed in the UK.
