DMRB Volume 3 Section 4 Part 6 (BA 39/93) Highway structures: Inspection and maintenance. Assessment. Assessment of reinforced concrete half-joints (Withdrawn)

Publication Year

1993

Document Status

Withdrawn

Abstract

The advice given in this document is applicable to both upper and lower reinforced concrete half-joints. It may also be applied to pre-tensioned and post-tensioned prestressed half-joints which for this purpose can be considered as reinforced concrete elements. For pre-tensioned members, the prestressing force and tendons should be ignored, but for post-tensioned members the prestressing force should be considered as an external force acting on the half-joint. The behaviour of half-joints has been found to be influenced by the eccentricity of the reaction and the type of bearing. This Advice Note covers the use of both rigid and flexible bearings.

Document History

Superseded by CS 466 Risk management and structural assessment of concrete half‐joint deck structures (formerly IAN 53/04 and BA 39/93 (plus part of BD 44/15)) (HE, 2020). Design manual for roads and bridges (DMRB) 3.4.6.
