Abstract
Describes methods of test for the determination of the consolidation characteristics of soils when subjected to changes in the applied effective stress, the permeability characteristics of sands, the susceptibility of clays to internal erosion by water, and the susceptibility of soils to heave in freezing conditions. Covers: determination of the one-dimensional consolidation properties; determination of swelling and collapse characteristics; determination of permeability by the constant head method; determination of dispersibility; and determination of frost heave.
