Abstract
The aim of this publication is to provide a general introduction to timber preservation. It is mainly concerned with the pretreatment of timber in the UK and covers the principles of timber preservation, the hazards to timber in use, the types of preservative available, the preparation of timber for treatment, methods of application, and the properties of treated timber.
