Abstract
These recommendations have been prepared by the Loss Prevention Council on behalf of the UK insurance industry. A large number of major losses have been caused by certain types of metal faced plastic foam panels.

Formed from a merger of the Fire Offices Committee, the Fire Insurers Research and Testing Organisation and the Insurers Technical Bureau in 1984, the Loss Prevention Council (LPC) later went on to develop a certification body, the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), itself taken over by BRE Certification in April 2000. Other LPC documents are now available from the Fire Protection Association.
