Abstract

Covers the estimation of traffic loading for new roads and the calculation of past and future traffic for the maintenance of existing roads. Two methods are presented for traffic calculation. a) The Standard Method is simple and is used in the design of new roads. b) The Structural Assessment and Maintenance Method is primarily used in structural assessment and in maintenance design but can be used for new roads in exceptional circumstances, where non-standard traffic exists.
