Abstract
Asbestos found on the surface of, or buried at shallow depth on, abandoned former industrial premises or waste disposal sites can be a hazard to health. Remedial action may have to be taken by landowners or users, or by local authorities, to reduce the risks. This paper provides guidance on the investigation, assessment and treatment of such sites.
