6 November 2013
On 26 November NBS Live will bring experts from across the construction industry together in London to share their knowledge on a broad range of issues impacting the industry today, and to discuss what the future holds.
Delegates will hear the latest thinking on sustainability, learn new techniques for winning work and debate value engineering in seminars covering four different themes: Business & Practice, Technical, Design and BIM.
The one-day conference will offer something for architects, construction professionals and manufacturers alike and provide a wealth of networking opportunities.
The Technical Room will include sessions such as 'The future of Green Buildings' and 'What does Part L mean for design', where Ken Yeang, whose architecture and masterplans go beyond traditional accreditation systems, will discuss the ecological basis for design and masterplanning. In the Technical Room delegates will learn how to navigate the maze of legislation, regulations & policy, explore how to keep ahead of the industry and see new, pioneering technologies unveiled.
Clive Dutton, Former Executive Director for Regeneration at the London Borough of Newham and Robert Evans, Partner at Argent will be joined by other big names from Accenture, Farrells, and the London Borough of Wandsworth to discuss placemaking. They will look at how to get public realm projects right and what creates successful, cohesive communities.
Following that, speakers in the Design Room will examine the conflict between creative and commercial interests and ask whether cost management can have a positive impact on design, followed by a housing seminar featuring experts from companies such as Cathedral, PRP Architects, Igloo Regeneration, Pocket, Levitt Bernstein and Cluttons.
The Business and Practice Room will advise delegates how to create enviable reputations, champion award-winning projects and win work overseas and in the BIM room seminars will introduce BIM to beginners, alongside real case-studies demonstrating how BIM has benefitted projects, from the point of view of the client and the construction firm.
