Climate change is a global issue, and construction has a major role to play. At NBS, our customers use our platforms to make specification decisions on tens of thousands of construction projects each year. Sustainability is arguably the most expansive strategy in the RIBA Plan of Work 2020, and we recognise that the specification content we provide can help make a significant positive difference to our future built environment.
We have created a five-part sustainable specification guidebook that aims to arm the industry with broader knowledge and help simplify specifying for sustainability. In these guides, you will find information that:
- Aligns with UN goals and is tailored to industry concerns and issues
- Helps customers specify sustainably in a variety of situations and across multiple disciplines
- Provides guidance and example mapping for classification systems, Uniclass and CAWS
- Offers links to other relevant, valuable information
As with all NBS specification guidance, these guides do not tell you how to specify but serve as a prompt to help you make informed decisions – opening your mind to other areas to consider and providing additional input and reference links.
We hope the information we have provided enhances your NBS experience by further aiding your sustainability journey.
NBS is certified as Carbon Neutral via a UKAS-accredited third-party PAS 2060 assessor. Furthermore, as part of the Byggfakta Group, we aim for Net Zero carbon by 2030. You can find more information about the other initiatives NBS is involved with on the
