Our new Solution Associate relationship with Autodesk is an important step change to collaborate on interoperability through the construction workflow.
What does this collaboration between NBS and Autodesk mean?
NBS has become the first UK Autodesk Solution Associate and is proactive in building relationships which have the shared vision of empowering the construction industry. Through this collaboration we will be building upon existing and new workflows to bring open interoperability between data and 3D modelling to meet the needs of our customer requirements both in the UK and Internationally. Watch out for more news on this soon. Integration of geometry and data will simplify decision making, provide access to content through the entire project workflow and enable collaboration across the different disciplines, saving time and money.
Does this collaboration mean NBS are now working exclusively with Autodesk?
No. NBS already provides solutions to integrate data with a number of CAD providers to meet our client’s needs and will continue to do so.
What is NBS's commitment to open data exchange?
Data and the standardisation of data underpins NBS vision and we have an ongoing commitment to support open industry standards such as Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) and Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie). We already produce our NBS BIM Objects in IFC standard that can be used within the CAD plugins we develop including the Autodesk Revit plugin. We build our network and solutions to support open standards allowing customers to use their applications of choice to deliver BIM projects.

What does this news mean for manufacturers?
NBS strives to provide the right information, in the right format, at the right time to help our customers make better project decisions. The provision of manufacturer information is key to that success and it is likely that this relationship will lead to improvements in the way construction information is delivered, together with more effective BIM workflows. Opportunities for manufacturers to further integrate their information into BIM workflows are anticipated as a result of this new working relationship.
