NBS, part of RIBA Enterprises, has launched its second major annual survey into construction contracts and related legal issues.
Instigated in 2012, the survey is undertaken by NBS with the help of the membership of more than 20 industry bodies.
It is the most wide-ranging independent review of contractual and legal issues throughout the industry, based on responses from contractors, clients, consultants and advisors, and will provide an accurate picture and in-depth picture of legal issues and disputes at each phase of construction, covering subjects such as:
Tendering and procurement
Pricing
The reference and adoption of BIM in contracts
Collaborative working
Main issues of dispute, their duration and value.
NBS' 2012 survey of more than 1,000 construction professionals revealed that disputes were still prevalent, despite the Government's emphasis on collaboration, with almost a quarter of those who took part saying they had been involved in a disputes in 2011.
The 2013 survey, which can be completed online, covers projects that were started, completed or went into dispute in 2012. These can be either UK-based projects or international projects handled from the UK by UK-based companies.
