Approved Inspectors came into existence in 1985. Initially, they provided an alternative model of dwelling approval to that provided by local authorities' Building Inspectors, but since 1998 they have provided services for all building types. This programme looks at the roles and responsibilities of Approved Inspectors, how they differ from Building Control Officers, and the relative benefits of each. It also explores upcoming changes to Building Regulations Approved Documents with special insight into what will be included in Parts L: Energy Conservation and G: Hygiene (the latter concerned with water saving measures).
