Eurocode 7 is Europe's first geotechnical design code to share a common philosophy with the design methodology for structures.
It is divided into two parts, the first covering General Rules and the second Ground Investigation and Testing.
Part 1 is subdivided into twelve sections and nine annexes and provides a general framework for geotechnical design, definition of ground parameters, characteristic and design values, general rules for site investigation and rules for the design of the main types of geotechnical structures.
Part 2 is subdivided into six sections and twenty-four annexes and provides detailed rules for site investigations, general test specifications, derivations of ground properties and the geotechnical model of the site.
This programme picks out some of the most significant aspects of Eurocode 7.
