At present, there are 47 schools of architecture - across the UK - running courses that have been validated by the RIBA. This programme will take a look at the Validation procedures for Part 1 and Part 2. From September 2011 a new set of validation criteria applies to Schools of Architecture courses. As before, these will be held in common with the Architects Registration Board (ARB). And so this programme will get to grips with the key changes, to keep universities (and prospective employers) aware of the changes
Key Learning:
- Lists the schools nationally and internationally that are currently validated
- Explains who carries out the Validation and Inspections; and the Validation criteria
- Explains the general themes and topic areas to be addressed by the course; with a short breakdown of Part 1 and 2 criteria. This needs to be understood by the students and the various schools of architecture
- Explains the concept of student “attributes” – which refers to the educational, professional and design skills to be demonstrated by the student
- Explains the ‘General Criteria’ to be fulfilled by students
- Specific focus on how courses can comply
