Uniclass 2015 is a dynamic classification for the construction industry. Our latest update features minor changes to six core tables in response to user requests.
Since the October update we have been liaising with an increasing number of individuals and organisations that use the tables, to provide users with further information and action requests for new codes.
Our work with the Metropolitan Police, to classify all their spaces and assign activities where appropriate, has led to the introduction of new codes in the Spaces and Activities tables. Whilst some of these are unique to the police and prison services, others, including stables and tack rooms, are of wider industry note and benefit.
We have also continued to work with manufacturers who supply products and services to Transport for London, with a particular focus on the maintenance of the Underground. As a result, further Uniclass 2015 codes have been added which will benefit others working in this sector.
A review of cables and products used in Surveillance Systems and Access Control Systems has led to the inclusion of a number of new products, which will be useful to those involved in the installation of electrical services.
We are grateful to the organisations we have worked with for their input. By sharing details of these activities, industry professionals can learn more about who else is using the tables, for what purpose and the range of changes to expect and why.
We have changed the title of the Construction Aids (CA) table to Tools and Equipment (TE) and this has been published. Many of the objects in this table are applicable to maintenance as well as construction.
Uniclass 2015 is continually updated and enhanced to meet the needs of those operating in the built environment. For this reason, we welcome comment and input from all sectors of the construction industry. Please contact our Uniclass 2015 specialists if you have any requests for new codes, queries or feedback.
Beta versions
The Uniclass 2015 tables currently available in beta version are Form of Information (FI) and Project Management (PM). We have delayed the publishing date for these tables in order to carry out a comprehensive review of the feedback received during recent consultation.
